Energy Week in Tashkent: From Ideas to Innovation
All news
From May 12 to 14, Tashkent hosted the Uzbekistan Energy Week — UEW 2025, which became a key platform for discussing the challenges and future prospects of the energy sector. More than 5,000 delegates attended the event, including representatives of international businesses, government bodies, tech companies, and the academic community.
The business forum held as part of the event served as a venue for sharing ideas, discussing innovative approaches, cutting-edge solutions, and technological initiatives aimed at accelerating modernization of the sector.
One of the plenary sessions focused on high-tech approaches to hydrocarbon processing, particularly in gas chemistry — a field now viewed as one of the main drivers of Uzbekistan’s industrial growth.
Ruslan Navruzov, Director of the Project Management Department of the MTO Gas Chemical Complex, emphasized in his speech that innovative technologies enable efficient use of natural resources and the production of high value-added products in demand both in Uzbekistan and abroad. According to him, the development of gas chemistry is especially relevant against the backdrop of population growth, rapid industrialization, import substitution strategies, and the global trend toward a sustainable economy. The increasing demand for polymer materials — especially in construction, packaging, transportation, and agriculture — requires the establishment of modern, technologically advanced production facilities with a high degree of localization. In this context, projects like the GCC MTO form the foundation for creating a competitive industry and strengthening the country’s industrial sovereignty.
The panel discussion featured industry leaders such as Uzbekistan GTL, Uzkimyosanoat, Uzbekneftegaz, ROSEN Group, Acwa Power, Air Products, Peton, Maire Tecnimont, and others.
The participation of the MTO Gas Chemical Complex reaffirmed its role as one of the flagships in deep hydrocarbon processing in the region and as a source of new opportunities for Uzbekistan’s sustainable industrial development.
