Going to school for the first time is always a celebration! Ahead are new knowledge, new friends, and a new life. Instead of toys, there are rulers, dividers, and school notebooks. However, unfortunately, not all schoolkids can afford a full set of school supplies.
The MTO Gas Chemical Complex decided to support first-grade schoolchildren from low-income families in their school preparation. A workshop was organized for 200 children, where young mentors from Tashkent, who were recent students themselves, introduced the schoolchildren to the basics of drawing in an engaging and entertaining manner. They provided the children with a set of special paints to decorate with their own hands special eco-bags which will remind them of this event for a long time. The mentors also participated in the creative process, advising the little artists on how to hold a brush, mix paints to get the desired color or shade, and demonstrated various artistic techniques to make their drawings more vibrant and beautiful.
Each participant approached the task with remarkable imagination and creativity: using the brightest colors, the children depicted their culinary preferences by drawing their favorite fruits and berries, as well as the natural world, transferring various trees, flowers, animals, and birds onto the canvas. Some drew their favorite places—such as their home or school, or a brightly light tropical landscape bathed in the sea and sand.
To help children fully unleash their creative potential not only during the workshop but also at school and home, each participant received a set of supplies at the end of the event. This included a backpack with educational and stationery items, pens, colored pencils, playdoh, colored paper, and, of course, a sketch album—everything needed for a young student to feel prepared for any “serious task”.
Another pleasant surprise for the children and their parents was the books in Uzbek language. These were collected by the staff of GCC MTO project. They carefully selected fairy tales, literary works, adventures, and encyclopedias—everything that would allow children to read and gain new knowledge and bright impressions in their native language.
The sustainability strategy of GCC MTO includes supporting the surrounding social environment. Therefore, the event took place in the cities and settlements near which the company will operate: the Karakul, Jondor, and Alat districts of the Bukhara region.
Yes, the company carried out a small project. But there is confidence that even a small contribution from the management team and employees will be a great help to children who need support during this crucial period of their lives. And, of course, similar projects will be held regularly. After all, today a student sits at a desk, and tomorrow they will be operating complex technological equipment at a project like the Gas Chemical Complex MTO.
