Launched a landscaping program of the area around the MTO-based Gas Chemical Complex (GCC MTO).

Employees of the GCC MTO, took a personal part in planting 150 seedlings of ash, elm and catalpa.

These seedlings will become the basis for the green belt, which will reduce the impact of the project on the environment, strengthen the soil, create favorable conditions for the subsequent growth of grasses and shrubs, and help combat further land desertification.

GCC MTO pays great attention to environmental safety issues. To conduct an environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA), a world-class expert, Mott Macdonald consulting company, was involved, which, among other things, developed a plan in order to reduce possible negative impact. The landscaping project near the GCC MTO is the beginning of a large work aimed at creating a “green belt of the MTO” — the territory around the key facilities of the future enterprise.

The landscaping project is being implemented with the participation of specialists from the Forestry Department of the Bukhara region.

Rustam Khodjiev, Forestry Department of the Bukhara region: “We are starting this large-scale project with a very right thing — the landscaping of the territory. This is important for preserving the nature of our region, counteracting winds, sandstorms, desertification and creating a comfortable climate for people who will live and work nearby.”

The climate of the south of the Bukhara region is sometimes characterized by extreme temperatures and strong winds. That is why ESG department, when choosing plants for landscaping, great attention paid to their endurance and adaptability to environmental conditions. These tree species can successfully grow not only in arid conditions, but also on soils with a high salt content.
