Development of a site for construction of a modern complex for production of industrial gases for the needs of the GCC MTO was completed in Karakul district of Bukhara region.
The site development was carried out in accordance with the project on creation of “Methanol Island” — production complex of the American scientific and technological corporation Air Products, which is the world’s leading company in the production of process gases and the leader of projects in the field of energy transition.
More than 20 units of heavy construction and special equipment took part in the site development works.
In total, nearly 541,000 m3 (more than 20,000 dump trucks) of soil was removed during the works.
"Air Products’ Methanol Island will provide a sustainable supply of methanol, hydrogen and other technical gases such as oxygen and nitrogen, which are required for the production processes of the future flagship of the gas chemical industry in Central Asia — the Gas Chemical Complex based on MTO technology.
The complex will be built on a 15 hectare site and will include an air separation plant with an annual capacity of 828,000 m3 and a methanol plant with an annual capacity of 1,335,000 tonnes.
The facility will be built in the Karakul Free Economic Zone, located in Bukhara region of Uzbekistan, on an area of 15 hectares. The scheduled commissioning date is 2025 and an expected operation term is 25 years.
